Sometimes I really dislike the term mummy. Not when my son is endlessly shouting it at me but when it’s applied to me generically by the nurse, health visitor, midwife, GP, librarian or impersonal PRs! In a bid to claw some of myself back from being just a mummy I’ve started to invest some time in me for a change. On the 19 September 2010 I started a Day Zero list: a place to record your goals, discover new challenges, and gain motivation to achieve them. I have a list of 100 things I want to do over 1001 days. The list is due to be competed by 16 June 2013. Life with two children is hard. Life just doesn’t stop being hectic lately. I was joking with my husband that I didn’t know what I’d do with my time after I stopped my driving lessons but dental and physio appointments seem to have plugged the gap. To cheer myself up I’ve been doing some online shopping. I have no time for real shopping as it’s pretty impossible with the toddler who gets bored if I so much as look at a clothes shop. Now as you may know I’ve been having a good clear out lately, partly due to my excessive hoarding of clothes and because we want to move house this year. Most of my shelves were piled high with maternity and old work clothes so they’ve all been bagged up and donated to charity. I was lucky enough to win a copy of Green is the New Black in a giveaway on the Make London blog the other week. The book arrived today and looks great so it is packed in my Orla Kiely weekend bag. Hooray, almost the end of my first day being 30. I had lots of presents including a nice new Orla Kiely handbag and necklace. I had lunch with my workmates and saw Spamalot this evening. Exhausting but lovely.
