For the last few years Pretty Fabrics and Trims have produced a Christmas charity pattern. Last year was the adorable North Pole set which I loved making, and finished stitching in January too. This years pattern was a felt gingerbread manor house so of course I had to make a donation and buy it. I was able to use my own supplies to make this little pincushion, choosing some gingerbread and white coloured felt, embroidery threads and white seed beads. I used freezer paper to cut the different pieces, this is a technique I’ve only recently learned, and find it…

I can’t believe it’s that time of year again but here I am with another Christmas Gingerbread Gift Guide to share with you. I love gingerbread all year round, but nothing beats the smell of warm gingerbread at this time of year. Gingerbread actually refers to a broad category of baked goods, typically flavoured with ginger, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon. I can’t resist a gingerbread biscuit but you can pretty much get anything flavoured with gingerbread these days. This year I’ve included gingerbread themed gifts as well as gingerbread house kits and gingerbread biscuits. Of course I’ll be building the…

I’m not the biggest fan of the art of cross stitch. Cross stitch is a form of counted thread embroidery which involves an x stitch on fabric with an even and open weave like Aida. Some people think it’s the simplest form of embroidery, but I actually find it quite hard to find the right place for my needle! Thankfully it is easy to see where you’ve gone wrong and unpick a stitch or two. Anyway, when I saw that Cotton Clara had produced a gingerbread house cross stitch kit I bought myself one. I love anything related to gingerbread…

It’s been a long time since we last made a Halloween gingerbread house. With the shops already full of delicious and tempting gingerbread house kits, I decided to pick one up for Halloween. Our house is decorated with all kinds of pumpkins and squashes as we’re trying to cut down on buying any new decorations. I thought decorating a gingerbread house would make a great Halloween activity for kids, and a bit of a STEM challenge to keep them busy too! I love sharing the resources and activities that I do with my own children. We spend much more time at home over winter so I love to have a few new activities to keep them busy. They both enjoy sitting down and colouring, especially after a day at school, and my Christmas gingerbread house colouring page is one of their favourites.
