The Bank Holiday weekend was a great opportunity to catch up on some reading. We spent yesterday clearing out the children’s playhouse of toys, and turning it into a chill out den for them. They hoovered, put up posters and added a little desk and chair and beanbag. It was lovely to see them enjoying their playhouse and I hope they spend lots of time in it as the weather warms up. We were recently #gifted a copy of Doodle Cat Wears a Cape by Kat Patrick and Lauren Farrell. This is the third book in this cheeky and beloved series.…

It has been super cold today for a weekend in May. It didn’t stop us going out to the park or having a day out but we’ve taken jumpers and coats! Fingers crossed the next Bank Holiday in May is warmer! Luckily for Little Sis she was sent a bundle of Petooties Pets, the brand new collectable plush animals from Jazwares. These have been perfect for cuddling up with over this cold weekend. Collectable plush Petooties Pets Little Sis adores her cuddlies. Changing her bed is a military operation as she shares it with so many soft toys. She has…

I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Last week was pretty crazy as we had a 2 day visit from Ofsted at the school I work in. I’m glad the visit is over and can’t wait to hear the outcome. Five Happy Things {Week 239} I love the work of Rob Ryan who is a screen printer and…

Although we’re frequent visitors to Devon there are still lots of places we want to visit. On our most recent trip we wanted to use our National Trust membership to visit both Bradley Manor House and Compton Castle. We packed a picnic and headed off to Newton Abbot for our day out. A visit to Bradley Manor House, Newton Abbot Bradley Manor House is a surprisingly complete medieval manor set in lovely woodland minutes from the centre of Newton Abbot. The house contains a collection of Arts and Crafts furniture and Pre-Raphaelite paintings. The earliest part of the house dates…

Little Sis just loves her L.O.L. Surprise! collection. They are the perfect unboxing toy with layers of toys to unwrap, it’s not hard to see why they are so appealing to children. Little Sis was #gifted a special L.O.L. Surprise! box of treats to keep her busy over the Easter holidays. Unfortunately they arrived whilst we were away but she has had lots of fun holding a treasure hunt in the garden after school this week. Inside her special package was a box of plastic eggs filled with chocolates, an L.O.L. Surprise! Hair Goals, 2 x L.O.L. Surprise! Lils and…

Whilst we were away on holiday last week my 7 year old spotted colourful packets of Moji Pops whilst we were out shopping. We bought a blind bag to see what was inside and she immediately fell in love with the colourful characters with a face you can swap! Yes, you can pop out the face disc and turn it over for a completely different emotion! So much fun for kids who love all things emoji. Fortunately for my daughter she was #gifted a wonderful bundle of Moji Pops from Magic Box Toys so we can tell you more about…

Yesterday we took part in a Twitter viewing party with @SonyPicsAtHome for Spiderman Into The Spider-Verse which was released on DVD this week. Ok, so we may have missed the start of the party, but we still had fun watching at home, especially as we were sent a bundle of toys to play along with as we watched. Spiderman into the Spider-Verse Spiderman into the Spider-Verse is the first animated feature film in the Spider-man franchise. Teen Miles Morales becomes Spider-Man of his reality, crossing his path with five counterparts from another dimensions to stop a threat for all realities.…

Our latest game from the Blogger Board Game Club was House of Danger, based on the book by R.A. Montgomery. When I first saw the game it immediately made me think of the story books I read as a child, the ones with multiple possible endings where you choose your own adventure. I loved that kind of book and saw that the game was billed as a cooperative adventure game by Prospero Hall. Blogger Board Game Club: House of Danger Although the game is recommended for ages 10 and over our children really wanted to play it with us. They…

Shaldon is a village in South Devon, on the south bank of the estuary of the River Teign, opposite Teignmouth. The village is really pretty and unspoilt, full of quaint little streets and shops and definitely worth a visit. Last week we were staying in Teignmouth with a direct view over to Shaldon. We couldn’t wait to explore Shaldon with the kids. It’s a quick drive away but parking is limited so we opted to visit by boat! The Teign Ferry Shaldon and Teignmouth are linked by the Teign Ferry, very possibly England’s oldest passenger ferry service. A service has…
