I love Christmas and one of my favourite things is planning gifts for my family and friends. I always start early with my Christmas shopping, usually in September. Whilst this might sound early it really helps me budget if I spread the cost of over a few months. Due to the second Lockdown I have turned to shopping online more for toys and games for my children. My son is such a…

For the last few years we’ve had an artificial Christmas tree. We bought it a few years ago after the Christmas tree we had bought dropped most of its needles before Christmas Day! My husband was so fed up with our real tree that he went out and bought an artificial one. It’s a great tree, easy to store and put together, but we just miss the smell of a real tree. So this year we promised to think about getting a real tree. We found the Christmas Tree Farm in Chesham and decided to pay a visit. A visit…

With two creative kids we love our weekly Draw With Rob sessions. Every Saturday the kids look for clues on what the latest character will be, and we all look forward to sitting down for a drawing session. The kids have special notebooks just for their Draw with Rob drawings and my husband even bought a Kuretake pen, just like Rob uses! These drawing sessions kept us busy during the first Lockdown and we love that we have something to look forward to at the weekend. Have you heard of a mug hanger before? It’s a biscuit that actually hangs over the edge of your mug. I bought a gingerbread house mug hanging kit a few years ago but was excited to try a kit I found in Sainsbury’s which included four different shapes. Festive Mug Hanging Gingerbread kit The Sainsbury’s Festive Mug Hanging Gingerbread kit contained gingerbread mix with red and white icing pens and stencils. All you needed to add was butter and Golden Syrup. The templates were printed on the inside of the box and needed to be cut out. First of all…

One of my favourite things to do at this time of year is to watch a Christmas film. The days are shorter and colder and thanks to this second Lockdown, we are happier to stay in and snuggle up with a film at the weekend. Earlier this year we were gifted Disney+ which the kids just love. There is so much familiar content and well as lots of new things to discover. Cheerful Christmas movies to watch on Disney+ With so many of our usual Christmas activities cancelled this year we will be making our fun in different ways. Swap…

A few weeks ago we finally organised a visit to the Battle of Britain Bunker with our kids. It was a place we had wanted to visit since it opened. You must pre-book a tour of the bunker online, but it was free with our Hillingdon First card. We drove to the Bunker which is one of the few remaining buildings from RAF Uxbridge which closed in 2010. Visiting the Battle of Britain Bunker with kids The Battle of Britain Bunker is an underground operations room at RAF Uxbridge, formerly used by No. 11 Group Fighter Command during the Second…

It’s been a long time since we last made a Halloween gingerbread house. With the shops already full of delicious and tempting gingerbread house kits, I decided to pick one up for Halloween. Our house is decorated with all kinds of pumpkins and squashes as we’re trying to cut down on buying any new decorations. I thought decorating a gingerbread house would make a great Halloween activity for kids, and a bit of a STEM challenge to keep them busy too! Halloween gingerbread house supplies: M&S Gingerbread House Kit Green popcorn Mini gingerbread biscuits Edible eyes Edible glue Chocolate drops…
