I love eating out but don’t really get the chance to go to too many places whilst the children are so young. They have their favourite child-friendly restaurants they like to go which we find ourselves sticking to as it makes life easier. Over the last couple of years we often treat ourselves to our favourite takeaways and we both have our go-to comfort food after a busy week. I was recently sent a copy of Homemade Takeaways: How to make your favourite takeaway … but better by Rob Allison to review. The book contains 100 recipes covering your favourite…

Yesterday we spent the morning at the Innocent Fruit and Veg Fest at Fruit Towers. My children love Innocent smoothies so I knew they would enjoy themselves and they were very excited when they heard where we were going. We arrived at Fruit Towers where they were given their own shopping lists. For each fruit and veg activity they completed they were given a sticker for their list. They made fruit and veg heads – Little Sis is a cucumber fiend and ate most of the Cucumber Daddy she made. They did some painting using fruit and veg which made…

It’s a little known fact that I’m a Belgophile. I adore Belgium and have visited many Belgium cities including Brussels, Ghent, Ypres, Ostend, Bruges and this month Antwerp. I have a long list of more Belgian cities I want to visit, much to my family’s dismay. Obviously travelling at home and abroad can be expensive. According to some recent research by the Santander 123 credit card team the average daily spend while ON holiday (excluding flights and accommodation) in Barbados is a massive £109! Belgium is £88 and Poland and India came out cheapest with an average daily spend of…

Last week a new subscription box popped through my door – the Japan Candy Box. Japan Candy Box is the sweetest monthly Japanese candy subscription service and we were excited to try it out. This is what our box looked like, packed full of 10 colourful candy and sweet treats to try! It goes without saying that my children love candy too so we tried all the sweets together. Here are our thoughts: The Glico Collon Biscuit Rolls have a funny sounding name and were our least favourite snack. They are like little crispy rolls, perhaps filled with green tea? The Horadekita…

Did you know that tomorrow is National Ice Cream Day? The weather has been bright and sunny today so we enjoyed ice creams when we were out for a walk. After dinner we made some delicious Eton Mess desserts with Kelly’s of Cornwall ice cream and Clark’s delicious dessert toppings. Eton mess is a well known English dessert consisting of strawberries, pieces of meringue, and cream, traditionally served at Eton College’s annual cricket game against Harrow School. It is one of my favourite Summer desserts so we made our own version today. Ingredients needed to make Eton Mess: Punnet of…

Today I’m devoting my Monday happy things to all the brands I’m currently working with. You may have noticed I’ve posted a few fun Miffy crafts recently. We are big fans of Miffy and I’m pleased to announce I’m a Miffy Mum! Miffy turns 60 on 21st June this year and over the coming weeks I’ll be sharing Miffy’s latest news with you. I’m also a Poppy Cat blogger. Poppy Cat returns to Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s Nickelodeon Land in 2015 and from April 20th – May 22nd will be the featured character attraction, with regular shows throughout the day to entertain the…

Today is one of my favourite days of the year – Shrove Tuesday, now commonly known as Pancake Day. As if this time of year isn’t busy enough (and we have tons of birthdays, Valentine’s Day and half term) we can look forward to cooking some delicious Pancakes. This year we’re mixing it up a little by trying something new. We were asked if we’d like to try Clarks Maple Syrup with our pancakes. Our family love pancakes but we’re quite traditional in that we like them with a squeeze of lemon and a sprinkle of sugar. This morning we…

This evening after a very busy day we enjoyed a Fajita and Film Night from Santa Maria (previously Discovery Foods). As the weather turns colder and nights in and lazy Sundays with the little ones become more appealing, Santa Maria sent us a lovely hamper filled with Santa Maria products including tortillas, fajita seasoning mix and squeezy bottles of guacamole and salsa. We love making fajita’s at home but there were a couple of products we hadn’t tried before, such as the tub of Onion & Garlic Dip, jar of Red Jalapenos and Sweet Chilli flavoured Nacho Rolls. All I…

I am really looking forward to lots of crafting time over half term. My 4 year old has a long list of things to make, bake and craft which I couldn’t be happier about. Today we made a Chocolate House which was a choc on choc kit so everything was included – the chocolate beans, moulds, garden scene and chef’s hat. I melted the beans using a small silicone pot in the microwave which made pouring the melted chocolate really easy. I used the white chocolate for the four walls and the milk chocolate for the roof and trees. The…
