This evening after a very busy day we enjoyed a Fajita and Film Night from Santa Maria (previously Discovery Foods).
As the weather turns colder and nights in and lazy Sundays with the little ones become more appealing, Santa Maria sent us a lovely hamper filled with Santa Maria products including tortillas, fajita seasoning mix and squeezy bottles of guacamole and salsa. We love making fajita’s at home but there were a couple of products we hadn’t tried before, such as the tub of Onion & Garlic Dip, jar of Red Jalapenos and Sweet Chilli flavoured Nacho Rolls.
All I needed to supply was the chicken, some fresh vegetables and a tub of soured cream. I think I like cooking Mexican as it is so easy to put together, especially with all the extras you can buy.
Making fajitas as a family meal is great fun as everyone gets to tailor their tortilla wrap to their own taste. We don’t like particularly spicy food but you can put in as little or as much of everything as you like. The Santa Maria products are labelled as Hot or Mild so it’s easy to choose the ones you want. I served the cooked meat and heated fajita’s in bowls on the table and let everyone get stuck in. It was a little messy but great fun.
The Sweet Chilli flavoured Nacho Rolls were particularly delicious and I will definitely be looking for these at the weekly shop.
We were also sent a copy of Disney’s Frozen to watch so after we had eaten and put everything away we snuggled up on the sofa to enjoy the film. I’m sure every parent of young children are familiar with the film. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen, the film tells the story of Princess Anna who sets off on an epic journey alongside Kristoff an iceman, his pet reindeer Sven and a clueless snowman called Olaf to find her estranged sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. My children love this film and can sing most of the songs at the top of their voices 🙂

I had fajitas for dinner tonight! Mexican food is my favourite 🙂 I’m loving the look of the nacho rolls, they look perfect for dipping!
