    Experimenting with fabric dye

One of my Summer projects was to have some fun with DYLON dye. Dyeing is a great way to give your textiles a new lease of life, especially if you want to be on trend with the latest colours. These days it couldn’t be easier, all you need is some packets of fabric dye, salt, a bucket and your fabric. Experimenting with fabric dye I was looking back through my archives and it’s been a while since I dyed anything. Some of my favourite projects include dyeing a blanket for Little Sis and dyeing vintage wool blankets. I’ve used the…

    Getting ready for Pancake Day

Are you excited about Pancake Day next week? We are! It has to be one of my favourite childhood memories – the anticipation, the smell and sounds of the cooking and of course, the yummy flavours. I think Pancake Day remains special because although pancakes are simple, cheap and quick to make, we usually only eat them once a year. Our 2 and 3 year old need a little help to appreciate the finer things in life. Which is why we had a practice run for Pancake Day or Shrove Tuesday as it’s traditionally known. You really don’t need many…

Decorating for Christmas with Dunelm Mill

Last week we popped into our local Dunelm Mill to get some inspiration for our Christmas decorations. My Facebook timeline has been full of friends putting up their trees and decorations and it feels as though we’re in the minority as we haven’t put anything up yet – except for our Advent calendars and candles. We’re undecided about buying a real or fake tree so went looking for decorations as we know our colour scheme will be red and white this year. They had a brilliant range of festive bedding, tableware and decorations so there was plenty of choice. Little…

    Flowery cupcakes

I was sent some new baking products and thought I would make some flowery treats as autumn has definitely arrived here in London. There’s nothing like a batch of cakes to cheer our house up and these definitely did the trick. They were pretty fun to make too. Easy Flowerpot Cupcakes I made a normal batch of vanilla cupcakes in these fun silicon flowerpot cases from Dunelm Mill, cooking them for about 20 minutes at gas mark 4. I decorated them with a green buttercream for the grass, and slices of marshmallow dipped in red edible glitter to look like…

It’s time for a Spring clean!

As part of my role as a Dunelm Mill blogger I’m occasionally asked to review some of their lovely products for the home. They recently contacted me about reviewing one of their latest products, the Click ’n’ Clean cleaning system. The Click ’n’ Clean is a revolutionary new cleaning system where you select your handle which you can mix and match with a cleaning head depending on your cleaning needs. Not only is it the time of year to give your house a Spring clean but, as you know, we’ve recently moved house so our house needs a complete clean.…

    Home furnishings and more

A while ago I was contacted about becoming a product tester for Dunelm Mill, the home wares and interiors company with stores across the UK. There are two stores within easy reach of where we live in London but you can also see their extensive range online and there really is something for everyone! They sent me a couple of items to review and I love both of them. Firstly, a craft book from the very talented Melly & Me: Sewn Toy Tales. Based on an Australian blog I’ve read for years, this book contains 12 fun characters to make…
