My daughter has a great collection of Sylvanian Families buildings. She can create her own little rural Sylvania with her tree house, log cabin and other buildings. I recently bought her the Baby Sleigh Ride Set, she just *loves* the babies. It’s a sweet little Christmas set but got me thinking. The only thing missing was our Sylvanian set up was a gingerbread house! So I made one. Sylvanian Families gingerbread house I bought a pretty shabby village Post Office Shop which came with a counter and accessories. The cardboard detail was ripped and bent which I thought made it…

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. Mollie Makes Reindeer Tree Decoration The Reindeer Tree Decoration in Mollie Makes Issue 86 was designed by Jenny Blair and contained felt, thread, pom pom trim, stuffing and a needle. I cut out the templates from the magazine and got cutting. I love making things…

My 5 year old recently discovered PJ Masks. Little does she know that she’ll be receiving some goodies for her birthday at the end of the month! In the meantime she has been collecting the different figures from the blind bags with her pocket money. We thought we would make our own Headquarters for them to play in. It was so simple so we’re going to share how we made the PJ Masks Headquarters. This Saturday sees the annual Lord Mayor’s Show in the City of London. Traditionally the newly elected Lord Mayor makes his or her way from the City to Westminster to swear loyalty to the Crown. The Show takes place every second Saturday in November and is a great day out for families. Each year the Show reinvents itself to attract a fresh audience while at the same time not losing sight of its heritage and tradition. The military, Livery and civic elements represent the spine of the procession; while charities, youth associations, overseas organisations and businesses bring the energy and…

Remembrance Day is a really important festival in the UK and around the world. It’s a memorial day observed in Commonwealth of Nations member states since the end of the First World War, with the aim to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. This Sunday we will be attending the annual Remembrance Day Memorial Service for Scouts, as both our children are Beaver Scouts. This will be our third year attending and it’s a beautiful service. We’ve tried a few crafts around the theme of Remembrance and this year we made a variety…

I spent a very happy morning Christmas shopping yesterday. I love having the time to do shopping early, it makes a huge difference if I can make lists and cross off everything as I do it. Getting my Christmas shopping done also means more crafting time which makes me extra happy! Recently I bought a huge bundle of vintage Sylvanian Families figures. My daughter loves Sylvanian Families and I thought it would be fun to craft with them. My daughter and I made our own snow globe and today we’re going to show you how we did it. Equipment to…

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. Issue 83 included a free 2018 calendar and stickers so I didn’t blog about that issue. Issue 84 included a free Advent Calendar kit which I was quite excited about. The kit included a wooden house template, 24 papers by Amy van Lujik…

My children take a jar filled with toys or sweets into school every Christmas for their Christmas Fair contribution. The whole school does this and in return the kids get to wear their own clothes to school. The filled jars are then sold at the Fair and raise money for school. It’s a great way to raise funds for school and my children have always enjoyed filling and decorating their jars. Our “Jolly Jars” are traditionally filled with sweets (usually leftover from Halloween!) but a filled jar also makes a great handmade gift at Christmas. It’s something that’s really easy…
