With Easter only a few days away I’ve had to up my crafting game. This is proving quite difficult with having to home educate my children! However, we love celebrating Easter and I want to make a special effort to create something fun this year. We always hold an Easter Egg Hunt and this year I wanted to make new signs to use for an outdoor Easter Egg Hunt (or indoors if the weather is bad). You all know how much I love my Cricut Maker so looked for free Easter Egg Hunt svg files. I found a really fun…

I’ve always been a huge advocate on the benefits of crafting. I love to have a couple of projects on the go and find they are a great way of soothing my mind after a long day. It doesn’t matter if it’s creative colouring, hand sewing, paper cutting or trying something new on my Cricut – I love the act of creating something, especially if I can put the finished piece up on the wall, or gift it to someone. If you want to find out more about the benefits then read 4 reasons craft is good for you on…

Last week my son was sick so spent a day at home with me. He spent most of the day lying on the sofa, watching tv, which meant I needed to find something to do. My Shipping Forecast quilt had been sitting in the corner, looking at me, so it seemed like the perfect time to get it out and work on it. The Shipping Forecast quilt I love listening to The Shipping Forecast on Radio 4. Before my children came along I used to stay up late, listening to it before bed. Now I’m in bed a lot earlier…

If you’re a parent of a child in Infant or Junior School then I’m sure you will be aware that World Book Day is coming up next week. Our family are not fans of dressing up so we are relieved that the children only have to take their favourite book in as they will have plenty of time to read during school. Viking recently asked if I would like to craft something special for World Book Day. They knew that we all love reading and asked us to remember a story that sparked our imagination, then craft a scene, character…

I love crafting for Christmas and had so much fun planning and making throughout October, November and December. I’ve shared a lot of my favourite Cricut projects with you, including the personalised wooden advent calendars we made. Today I wanted to tell you about the wooden block countdown calendar I also made. Although I made it for the children to countdown to Christmas Day, we’re now using it as a photo prop with our little Bichon Frise pup! Easy Cricut made countdown from wooden blocks I’m calling this make a wooden block countdown calendar for want of a better name.…

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. I know I’m always blaming our little pup but I haven’t had much time to craft this year. I enjoyed making Issue 112’s cute Festive Pup kit. Issue 113 was a mini floral winter banner which I do want to make at some point;…

September update – sadly The Handmade Festival has been cancelled due to the current situation. Workshops will be help online instead. Find out more on their website. Living in London I’m surrounded by amazing craft events and workshops. I’m pretty picky about the ones I will go to though and spend my hard earned cash on. Location is really important for me though and last year I only went to the Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally. I really wanted to go to the Handmade Festival, what was the Handmade Fair, but trains weren’t running to Hampton Court and…

I always feel that Valentine’s Day should be celebrated but simply. It feels like I’m still paying off the excesses of Christmas in February and I want Valentine’s Day to be meaningful more than anything else. My daughter has already asked when she’s getting for Valentine’s Day so I’ve been emphasising the handmade nature of our gifts this year. The children have been busy making cards and have bought small chocolate gifts for their friends. I love that my 8 year old made a card for her boyfriend, I really hope she gets one back. Love Paper Box from MakeBox…

It’s been a slow start to the year for me. Our little pup takes a lot of time (I’m constantly watching for signs he needs the loo!) so I haven’t had much free time. That’s why I love a subscription box though! They contain everything you need and the projects can usually be finished in a few evenings. Winter Craftpod subscription box My husband kindly gifted me the Winter Craftpod box for Christmas, which was a lovely treat. I tried to resist any spoilers of the contents on Instagram so was delighted when I was able to open it. This…
