I wanted to make chalk for a long time. At the start of lockdown I couldn’t buy chalk anywhere. All the shops had sold out or the price was just out of this world. So I decided to make my own. It’s surprisingly easy to make your own coloured chalk and you only need 3 ingredients – Plaster of Paris, water and food colouring. Easy homemade sidewalk chalk supplies: Plaster of Paris Food colouring Water Old bowl to mix ingredients Cardboard tubes Duck Tape Baking parchment How to make easy homemade sidewalk chalk It couldn’t be easier to make your…

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. Summer Bee embroidery hoop Mollie Makes took a break over the worst of the lockdown period. I really missed my monthly treat but was kept busy with my Sew A Little Happiness Everyday sampler. I was so happy to see a copy land on…

Ages ago I came across a really fun Pin on Pinterest, showing colourful marbles in a garden fence. This is something I’ve wanted to for ages. I couldn’t find the Pin when I looked but I knew it would be pretty simple to do. We’ve spent a lot of time in our garden over the last few months. It was already in pretty good shape but we tidied up our homemade mud kitchen, made a kennel for the puppy, as well as a plant table to stop him from eating all our flowers! How to add colour to your garden…

It’s safe to say I’ve kept busy with a lot of crafting and making during this strange period. I’m thankful it was already a hobby and I had a lot of supplies and I haven’t really needed to purchase much. It was my birthday the weekend we went into lockdown and my husband had kindly bought me the Spring Craftpod subscription box as a gift. This is one of my favourite crafty subscription boxes, the quality of the materials is always perfect, which isn’t always the case (I’m looking at you Mollie Makes). Serene Spring embroidery with the Spring Craftpod…

Our American friends are really excited about celebrating Fourth of July or Independence Day next week. This is a federal holiday celebrated in the United States which commemorates the Declaration of Independence of the United States, on July 4th, 1776. Our 4th of July paper banner craft is really popular at this time of year so I thought I would add another 4th July craft, a Cricut-made Stars & Stripes Mason Jar craft which would make a lovely table decoration for any celebrations. Stars & Stripes Mason Jar supplies: Free Stars & Stripes svg file Cricut machine with fine point blade…

I know that lockdown isn’t over at all but last week, my son returned to school for a very few hours, and it felt like that phase of our life was over. At the start of lockdown Sarah from Pretty Fabrics & Trims mentioned she was going to start a 20″ square sampler, adding some stitches to it every day. It was a bit of a community project as everyone was invited to join in, and you could share your progress on Instagram using #SewALittleHappinessEveryDay. I really wanted to join in but find it hard to focus and finish projects…

I’ve had some time to myself this week. I put my #sewalittlehappiness sampler to one side, and made some mosaics from a crafty subscription box. I really need some time to myself, especially after a day of home learning with my two. Since we’ve been at home I’ve treated myself to a few subscription boxes. I love having a craft I know I can finish in a few days. It seems a long time since I made my mosaic rainbow in a workshop. It’s one of my favourite makes and has been proudly on display in our window of rainbows,…

Disclosure – post in collaboration with Design Bundles Can you believe I’ve had my Cricut Maker for over a year now? It’s my favourite cutting machine and I love looking for my next craft to make. I’ve been kept busy during lockdown with my crafting and I’m so thankful that I already had enough equipment and materials to keep me busy crafting. With birthdays and anniversaries, I’m never short of people to make for. The only thing I don’t have are the svg files to use on my machine. Why SVG files are an essential tool for crafters I’ve written a…
