I would like to think that having one child makes me an expert but in the couple of months between the toddler and baby I seem to have forgotten all the important stuff! Little Sis is now 6 months old and she’s hungry for more than milk. The only problem is I seem to have lost my confidence with weaning. At 18 weeks I started her on a spoonful of baby rice which she clearly hated. We quickly moved on to ready made purees in pouches which she demolishes. I have to admit that the toddler takes a lot of…

We were lucky to have time to visit the bustling fishing town of Brixham. We’ve been meaning to visit for years and finally found we had a couple of hours spare. It’s a really lovely town, some great independent shops, brilliant charity shops and lots of cafes so you can sit and watch the boats in the harbour. Although our primary purpose wasn’t to look round the charity shops my poor daughter gave me a very good reason. She had a nuclear nappy explosion which resulted in my throwing away the clothes she was wearing. Now when I go charity…

Today we went to Willow’s Farm in Hertfordshire as we had heard some great things about it. I have packing for a day trip down to a fine art but have only recently started including a little lunch bag for Little Sis. Now we have weaning well established I take a pouch of puree and a spoon along with her bottles and powder dispenser. Little Sis is such a happy eater that I’ve kept the first pouch she finished in her memory box – proud mummy moment! Despite promising that it wouldn’t happen the toddler has a blue lunch bag…

Sometimes I really dislike the term mummy. Not when my son is endlessly shouting it at me but when it’s applied to me generically by the nurse, health visitor, midwife, GP, librarian or impersonal PRs! In a bid to claw some of myself back from being just a mummy I’ve started to invest some time in me for a change. I’m spending more time on my hobbies which keep getting forgotten, drawing up a list of baking projects from some new cook books I’ve received, I have a new hair cut, I’ve cleared out the ‘mummy uniform’ clothes and the…

My new favorite toy is the BT video baby monitor we were recently sent. Forget Mad Men and Alcatraz, the new show everyone is talking about is the Big Brother Show. In his cot bed at 7pm every night I thought he was putting his head down and sleeping. Thanks to the lovely new video monitor I find he is actually standing up, sitting down, lying down, standing up, sitting down, lying down until he eventually drops off! It’s definitely an eye opener. The Digital Video Baby Monitor 1000 is the latest in the range and gives you a video…

The very word Milton is synonymous with sterilising. It also makes me think of my mum who loves to remind me that when I was a baby she had to sterilise my bottles using Milton and cold water for hours on end. Thank goodness things have moved on. Not only do modern mums benefit from steam and microwave sterilisers but we now have the mini portable soother steriliser too! Sterilising experts Milton have launched the stylish new steriliser in eye catching colours- green, blue and purple. Created with mum in mind, the small, lightweight sterilising method has been specially designed…

As it’s Real Nappy Week it seems a good time to tell you about the gPants we have recently been using. We love using reuseable nappies and were really excited to meet the founders of gNappies recently. Whilst reuseable nappies have obvious benefits to the environment gNappies go one step further. They give you two options which go easy on the planet – a disposable but 100% biodegradable gRefill or washable gCloth. Little Sis has been trying out the little gPants with the gRefills. As you can see they look adorable on her little bottom, just like proper pants, and…
