Corner of my home

Posted on March 14, 2007November 9, 2014 by jenny

My mum!, originally uploaded by Jennifer Young. Spent the last few days with my lovely mum. We made a huge curtain for the lounge – we used 16 metres of a beautiful rich red fabric we bought at John Lewis. The lounge looks great, lots of reds – in the rug, fireplace tiles and other…

Keane at Wembley

Posted on March 4, 2007October 5, 2023 by jenny

We’ve had a busy few days; watched Keane play at Wembley, my sister visited, saw the Kylie exhibition at the V&A and caught up with some old school friends. Today we braved Brent Cross and spent over 4 hours shopping for curtain fabric! Weekends should be as long as weeks!

I love libraries …

Posted on February 27, 2007 by jenny

and I’m sure I’m not the only one. I recently rejoined the Barbican library as it’s close to work and I’m fed up with buying books. Today I picked up Alan Bennett’s Four Stories. I’ve already read the last story about the woman who lived in his front garden. I wish I’d discovered him earlier.

One month on

Posted on February 26, 2007 by jenny

We have now been in our new house a whole month. We under-estimated just how many trips we’d make to B&Q and the list of jobs done is keeping up with the list of things to be done. The back door has been replaced, the bath re-sealed, exterior lights fitted at the front and back,…

Weds 21 Feb

Posted on February 21, 2007February 19, 2011 by jenny

Today the boiler was condemned but the fence was finally fixed. What with the brand new back door and the new garden fence the house doesn’t know what has happened to it. I wonder if it’s missing those slovenly previous tenants?

A bad day in our new house

Posted on February 17, 2007February 19, 2011 by jenny

Today we are not happy. We had planned a nice day out and instead spent it in B&Q and Wickes (like last weekend, and the weekend before….). Today our new front door lock broke and we couldn’t get in. So we had to break the back door down (after climbing over next doors garden wall!)….

Happy Valentines Day

Posted on February 14, 2007February 19, 2011 by jenny

I’ve seen lots of hearts covered in buttons so tried making one myself. I used a new felt which was lovely to sew with and lots of buttons from my stash.

24 hours later

Posted on January 30, 2007April 25, 2012 by jenny

We are still moved and the house is only feeling slightly less strange. I feel homesick for our little flat and nicer area of town. Back to work tomorrow which we know will be difficult. We ventured out to B&Q today but it will feel very weird leaving the house on its own all day….

we have moved!

Posted on January 29, 2007 by jenny

Finally we have moved. It’s a strange feeling and I’m not quite sure how I feel at the moment. Despite a few problems (removal firm late, the house being full of furniture when we arrived with our van load, a fences, tree and shed all blown down by the recent gales) the house is just…
