Yesterday I answered a knock at the door to a man with a flower delivery for me. Had I forgotten my birthday? Was it our wedding anniversary or a significant date? No, and sadly the flowers weren’t from my husband. I had chosen them myself to brighten up the house with the miserable summer weather we’ve been having lately. I chose the scent of summer vase arrangement and although the flowers I received didn’t exactly match the description on the website they are beautiful and look great on the mantelpiece. If you’re looking for a florist in Nottingham or round…

I loathe giving my son Calpol after finding out exactly what is in it. However it seems to be the most effective medicine when it comes to his teething which is a lot more painful and sustained than I thought it would be. At 16 months he has 6 teeth but a few more have been making the usual signs over the last couple of weeks. I’ve always needed a good nights sleep and being pregnant is no different. I need more sleep but right when I need it I find it is regularly escaping me at the door to…

Squeeeee! It takes a lot to get me excited in my pregnancy haze but when I heard about the Orla Kiely board books I rubbed my tired eyes to make sure I hadn’t made it up! Yep, in a few short weeks two lovely board books will be available by one of my design crushes, Orla Kiely. I haven’t been able to find out much about them except they feature 32 pages of her famous designs which will help your little ones learn their colours and numbers using many of her trademark famous designs . This is obviously a new…

When is a toy box not a toy box? When it’s a trunki travel toybox! We’re big trunki fans since seeing them on Dragons Den in 2006. Edward received a Bernard the Bee suitcase last Christmas which goes everywhere with us so we were delighted when we were offered a trunki travel toybox to review. Like any other busy 16 month old Edward has a lot of toys and despite me tidying them away every evening they end up all over the house the next day. Let’s just say that there is no rhyme or reason to Edwards play just…

This has to be my most favourite thrifted find EVER! It may not look much but it’s my perfect find, a vintage double decker London bus. It has seen better days, is faded, missing its advertising stickers and internal mechanics but I don’t think it detracts from its’ wonderful vintage-ness! After a bit of searching I found it is a 1950s early molded polyethylene bus, made in England, by Popular Plastic Products. The rear wheels have a friction drive mechanism which is sadly missing. I definitely bought this for myself rather than my son. I think it is very Cath…

I’ve lost count of how many times the guidelines on drinking alcohol whilst pregnant changes. The good news is that you can have all of the taste of your usual wine without the alcohol! Fancy a ruby rich Cabernet Sauvignon, a fresh aromatic Riesling or a smooth Chardonnay but want to cut back on the alcoholic units? Simply switch your usual bottle of wine for Eisberg non alcoholic wine and experience the real taste of wine, without the alcohol and with only a third of the calories. Eisberg alcohol free wine is made in exactly the same way as your…

The good thing about having a very active 16 month old is that there’s NO time to think about being pregnant. This is both a good and a bad thing. Good because if I think too much I start to worry how I’m going to cope. Bad because I’m finding it really hard to put my feet up, relax and enjoy being pregnant. At some stage I’m going to have to get the newborn car seat back from my mum’s house as well as the new baby clothes we left there when Edward outgrew them. I need to pack a…

At the weekend we headed to the South Bank for VintageĀ @Southbank. We were lucky enough to go last year when it was at Goodwood and knew to head straight for the Vintage High Street and Vintage Marketplace. There were lots of goodies to look at, from clothes to accessories to furniture. I visited the Cath Kidston pop up shop and bought a new fabric patch to add to Edward’s badge blanket. The displays were lovely as usual. I always enjoy looking round a Cath Kidston shop and I spotted some children’s bags made from beautiful vintage style animal fabric…

It’s an understatement to say that Edward loves water. Come rain or shine he’s literally scratching to get out the back door to his water table (best investment ever!). Since he’s had the table he’s experimented with all kinds of kitchen utensils so he can play with the water; from plastic cups to a bucket and spade. We were kindly offered the opportunity to try three colourful nesting sailboats from BigJigs. They can be used in the bath tub, paddling pool or water table providing constant water time fun. As soon as Edward saw them he wanted them out of…
