    Monday happy things

Monday again? So soon? – Over the weekend the kids met their favourite Nick Jr characters in Nickelodeon Land at the Pleasure Beach in Blackpool. Little Sis had her photo taken with Poppy Cat and my 5 year old met the Ninja Turtles. Both were very very happy. This is my favourite photo from our weekend. – I’ve been working on a new patchwork project with some pretty pink fabrics from the fabric shop elephant in my handbag. I think this may be the first patchwork project which isn’t a quilt so I’m quite excited to show you my progress…

Pinned it made it – Mad hatter’s tea cups

What do you do with left over plastic eggs and some buttons? Make some tea cups suitable for A Mad Tea-Party of course. I wish I could claim this project my own but I saw a couple of Pinterest, like this one and knew my children would love it. This is a great project for using up left over plastic egg shells from Easter. Equipment needed to make the Mad hatter’s tea cups Plastic egg shells Selection of large plastic buttons Hot glue gun How to make Mad hatter’s tea cups This was a quick and easy craft. I chose…

    Hubelino marble run sets

Last year we told you about Hubelino marble run sets. The pieces are 100% compatible with Lego Duplo bricks which means you can create some really fun structures. This year we were sent two fun extension sets which means my children can have even more fun. The first set was the Twister Extension Set which has 22 parts including 2 Twisters that spin the ball around and eventually drop in in their middle. As you can see my 5 year old immediately enlisted the help of his Daddy to try some of the layouts suggested in the accompanying booklet. The…

Investing in a good day out with Miffy

Now we all know that a lot of things improve over time – think about your classic leather sofa or a really good cheese. This month the TSB Plus Account has just turned one year old. The maximum interest you can earn in a year from the Plus Account is £100 AER (5% AER on up to £2000), so what would you do with a spare £100? As a full time mum it’s not often there’s any money left over for treats so I think I would probably treat the children. They both have Lego sets at the top of…

    On my mantle – April

My mantle has a bit of a mono theme going on this month which means I’m bang on trend for once! I was actually quite relieved to take down our Easter decorations this year and return to some normality (if that’s possible with a 3 and 5 year old). The clutter that comes with family life quite often brings me down and I seem to be forever battling to keep our living space functional but comfortable. Fortunately we had some friends over one weekend so I had a major tidy and the house isn’t too bad. I’ve had my usual…

    Monthly Makes – April

I think April may hold the record for speeding by the quickest. It seems like only yesterday I was turning over a new page of our monthly calender, a Minion one in case you were wondering. This month I’ve managed a little bit of sewing, mainly for the two swaps I participated in. First there was the UK Mini Swap for a sweet little quilt which I wrote about here. There was also Round 6 of the Fabric ATC swap organised by Very Berry Handmade. The ATC measured only 2.5 x3.5 inches and I made a tiny row of terraced…

Baked eggs recipe from Lion Eggs and Crumbs Food

This afternoon I’m sharing a quick and healthy baked eggs in tomatoes, parmesan and basil recipe from Lion Eggs and vlogging sisters, Crumbs Food. Our family love eating eggs and I find they are a really versatile ingredient and something we always have. Ingredients needed to make baked eggs: cherry tomatoes or a tin of chopped tomatoes red pepper basil olive oil black pepper parmesan garlic 2 eggs How to make baked eggs: I love the fact it only takes a few minutes to prepare and 10 minutes in the oven. It’s definitely something I could make and the whole…

    Miffy matchbox bed

A few days ago we made some little Miffy figures from air drying clay and our Miffy cookie cutters. We love crafting with air drying clay as it’s so easy to use and pretty kid friendly. We left them to dry overnight. The next day the children decorated them with acrylic paint and colouring pens. The other day we covered some matchboxes with pretty papers and my 3 year old wanted to use them to make a Miffy matchbox bed. I added eyelets and small lengths of ricrac to one end to make it easier for her little fingers to…
