Autumn sensory tray with Sylvanian Families

Now my son is back at school Little Sis has been taking an interest in her own toys again. During the holidays she was happy to be directed by her older brother but I’m pleased to see her going back to her own toys now. This week she has been playing Sylvanian Families a lot so I though it would be fun to go on an autumn scavenger hunt and have some nature play. There are plenty of outdoor spaces near us so every day we have looked for conkers, acorns and different leaves. The leaves are changing colour really…

Owl porcelain plate from Baker Ross

Owls are always popular on stationery and fabric so we were delighted to be sent a box of 4 plain owl porcelain plates from Baker Ross to craft with. We previously received a set of their porcelain pens so we were able to decorate them straight away. The porcelain pens are easy to use, just give them a shake, take off the lid and press down gently to release the ink. The porcelain owl plates have pre-defined shapes on them which makes them easy to decorate, outlining owls and feathers. We found the ink ran slightly creating some interesting colour…

Make and create with FIMO kids moulds

Over the summer holidays we had some fun with Staedtler products as members of their Try-it tribe. Well we were excited to receive a further parcel of products to keep us busy through Autumn. Our latest challenge was to make and create with FIMO kids moulds. We were sent a pack of kid-friendly FIMO and 6 colourful plastic moulds. I find after school the perfect time for trying new craft products. My children love to wind down by crafting and it means I can ask my 5 year old all about his day without his typical response of “I can’t…

Thomas & Friends Daring Dragon Drop Playset Review

With two children who both love toys you can imagine that space is at a premium in our house. That’s why I’m a fan of Thomas & Friends  Take-n-Play sets. They always fold up so they can be stored easily when not in use. My son has always loved a toy train set and we have a few different sets – a wooden railway, Thomas & Friends Take-n-Play and Thomas & Friends Trackmaster.  For a little boy who enjoys building, vehicles and construction toys he was happy to be sent the new Thomas & Friends Take-n-Play Daring Dragon Drop Playset…

Jenny Makes Mollie Makes crochet charms bracelet

Do you ever look at a craft project and put it off for no reason? I’ve been stuck in a bit of a rut lately and am finding it so difficult to pick up any craft projects. Last night I finally took the latest Mollie Makes cover gift, a crochet charms bracelet kit, out of its packet. Jenny Makes Mollie Makes crochet charms bracelet Now everyone knows I can’t crochet so I feel a little sad when I see beautiful crochet projects everywhere. However, part of the fun of being creative is re-imagining things so I took the contents and…

Win a copy of the Clangers The Brilliant Surprise book

I’m always excited to see new Clangers products as both my children seem to love the tv show. Last week I picked up a copy of the Clangers magazine which my son enjoyed, especially the Tiny and Small figures which came with it. So you can probably imagine how happy he was to receive a copy of the new paperback book – The Brilliant Surprise by Daniel Postgate, which was published on 3rd September, priced £6.99. Something magical is coming to the little blue planet that is home to the whistling Clanger family and their friends! But what can it…

    Monday happy things

It’s Monday and my 3 year old has a taster session at her new nursery this afternoon so time for a quick post – my weekly Monday happy things: On Saturday we enjoyed our annual fun day out at Legoland. The weather was surprisingly hot, which was a good thing, and the children had a great time going on as many rides as we could squeeze in. We had taken their swimming costumes so they could play in Splash Safari in Duplo Valley and my 3 year old loved the new Heartlake City area. We all quite liked the huge…

Pumpkin and gourd sun catcher decorations

Don’t shout at me or leave rude comments but we’ve started our Halloween crafting. I know it’s early but we thought we’d make a head start. The weather can’t seem to make its mind up what season it is which doesn’t help. One day we’re wearing winter woolies and the next we’re back in our sandals and shorts. Autumn is my favourite season and we’ve been planning Apple Days and our Autumn fairy garden. Therefore it seemed pretty natural to make some Autumnal sun catcher decorations. My 5 year old was asking when we would be able to buy our…

    Make your own pirate treasure

Did you know that International Talk Like A Pirate Day is celebrated on September 19th? We wanted to join in with the fun so are taking part in a Pirates! Blog Hop with some other crafty bloggers to bring you some pirate activities which the whole family can enjoy. I was going to share our salt dough pirate treasure with you. We’ve made salt dough before and it worked out fine but for some reason our latest batch just wouldn’t come together. It might have had something to go with my 5 year old who said he wanted to mix…
