Photo by Kelly Sikkema on Unsplash Now our Summer holidays have finally started I’ve been thinking up ways to keep my children busy. We have holidays planned but we also have lots of down time at home. Sometimes I think my children just don’t know how to be bored but I know that being bored is really good for them, because boredom sparks creativity. However, it’s always worth having a few ideas to spark their creativity just in case. Our kid-friendly garden (which us adults love too!) We have a reasonable back garden and we’ve done quite a lot of work on it…

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying the start of the school summer holidays. The weather has been a little too hot for us so I’m so happy that the temperature has dropped AND we’ve had rain. Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Monday mindfulness – 5 Happy Things My son spent…

With thoughts turning to back to school (not really but I felt I had to say it!) the last Makerly subscription box felt like excellent timing. I love a subscription box and have recently subscribed to Makerly to encourage my creativity. I’ve been pretty bad at making time to craft which is silly, as it always makes me feel so much better! I ordered the latest Makerly craft subscription box and waited for it to arrive. It came in a slightly chubby box with everything for one make. This months make was a stamped pencil case kit containing a blank pencil…

I think I’ve mentioned before that my 6 year old is crazy about dinosaurs. She loves reading about them and playing with her toy dinosaurs. We’ve recently been watching all the old Jurassic World films in the hope we may go and watch the latest film Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. My daughter has even go herself the Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom and I have to say the stickers make a pleasant change from the ones she used to collect (Frozen!). Last month we had a great trip to experience Dinosaurs in the Wild on the Greenwich Peninsula in London. It got me…

Bandai has taken two of the hottest trends and combined them into one fun plush collection called Poo-nicorns. We were sent a selection for the children to review. I didn’t really know what to expect when I heard about them but both my children love unicorns and the poo emoji, I love how this brought them both together and I knew they would be an instant hit with them. These characters come in a variety of affordable plush ranging from 9cm Plushies Palz with a carabiner clip to add to bags or keyrings, to 40cm Puffiez Pillows. All are complete…

Can I say that we’re getting a tiny bit fed up of the British heatwave? It’s only the first week of the Summer holidays and I didn’t really expect to be spending so much time indoors. We’ve gone to the park first thing in the day before it gets too hot but otherwise we’re staying indoors and crafting and playing. Thankfully we were sent some craft supplies from Bostik which has kept us busy. July is a great month for flowers in the garden, luckily we haven’t had a hosepipe ban enforced yet. The children love to plant seeds so…

We love a good picture book here at the gingerbread house. My 6 year old loves to read but still prefers to share a picture book with us (I hope this never ends!). The perfect pants are hard to find for someone shaped like me, Could Octopants be just the job? Why not dive in and see ..? There are all-in ones for urchins and slipper-socks for eels…but will Octopus ever find a pair of pants to fit? A hilarious rhyming romp, packed with underwater underwear! Suzy Senior’s storytelling charm combine with Claire Powell’s vibrant, bright and colourful cartoon-esque illustrations…

Photo by Steve Huntington on Unsplash Are you looking forward to the children breaking up from school and the Summer holidays starting next week? This school year has just flown by and I am so excited about spending 6 weeks with my children at home. Having recently returned to work we are looking forward to spending some time on the house. House work is the first thing I neglect when I’m working outside of the home! Simple ways to refresh a family bathroom A few years ago we had a new kitchen put into our house, now we are looking at refreshing our…

Earlier this year I told you about SuperZings. SuperZings are everyday objects brought to life in a fun, comic ‘Hero vs Villain’ rivalry theme. They live together in Kaboom City. Clad in iconic superhero capes and eye-masks, there are more than 80 multi-coloured figures to collect in total, each with a matching ‘rival’ which adds a fun new dimension. My son really enjoys collecting SuperZings so was delighted to be sent a bundle of them to see him through the summer holidays. He loves anything he can collect and swap with friends, and if there’s a checklist – even better! You can…
