We’ve been trying a lot of baby food lately. This is great because I think making baby food is a real hassle and I’m happy to buy good ready made food! Over twenty years after the publication of her first book, Annabel Karmel has launched her first range of organic baby purées in pouches. Annabel Karmel’s organic purées are based of some of the most popular recipes from her books, and made with the best possible ingredients that you could find in your own kitchen.
The range comprises of Sunday Best Roast Chicken, Cosy Cottage Pie, Scrumptious Salmon & Sweet Potato, Lovely Lentils & Tomato, Tasty Chicken & Butternut Squash, Fruity Apple, Pear & Blueberry.
We’ve been trying the Scrumptious Salmon & Sweet Potato, and the Lovely Lentils & Tomato pouches. Both went down very well with my 7 month old. The portions are very generous so each pouch lasted for two meals. She likes textured food so these are perfect for her, if a little bit runny, but they are designed to give from 6 months so are the perfect first foods.
According to Annabel Karmel, a common mistake when weaning is to continue feeding only fruit and vegetable purées after six months. This diet is too low in calories and lacks the fat and nutrients found in proteins such as meat and fish, which are important sources of iron and essential fatty acids and vital for your baby from 6 months.
Tested extensively on babies, the taste of natural, home cooked food, allow babies to develop healthy eating habits early in life and helps them make the transition to family food and avoid fussy eaters.
Suitable from six months, with a RRP of £1.49, the purees are available from Sainsbury’s and Tesco.
