My little magpie has been picking up ‘treasures’ every day on the school run. She loves leaves and conkers and her latest findings have been acorns. She swaps them at school with her friends but luckily a few made it home for our nature table.
I challenged her to make an acorn sun catcher to add to our collection. It was simple but looks great hung up in the window so I thought I would share it.
Acorn sun catcher craft for kids
We used a sheet of A4 white card
Brown cellophane
Contact paper
Scissors
Brown paper bag
She looked at her acorns with their caps on and drew a picture of one on the sheets of card.
I carefully cut out the acorn and covered one side with contact paper. Then she covered it in pieces of brown cellophane paper.
We decided to make the acorn cap a slightly different colour so it would stand out. We found a brown paper bag, removed the handles, and cut it into smaller pieces. Then she glued it in place.
What do you think?
We love Autumn so it’s so sad to watch the leaves dropping so quickly at the moment. I can’t believe the clocks are going back on Sunday either. The evenings are already so short, I’m not quite sure I’m ready for them to get even shorter.
If you love Autumn too then don’t forget to check out our conker caterpillars and autumn leaf sun catchers.
