This Easter we managed to get away for a week to Teignmouth. Fo the past few years we’ve stayed at a wonderful little cottage on the back beach. The location is perfect – beach outside the front door, pub and Fish & Chip shop 2 minutes away. Teignmouth is blessed with a good climate and there’s also an arcade, children’s playground, tennis courts and crazy golf 2 minutes in the opposite direction.
The children have loved playing on the back beach and found quite a few treasures. I had to limit them to a little container, otherwise they would bring everything home.
Stitching by the sea and a Shipping Forecast Quilt update
Whilst the children played there was plenty of time for stitching. I made sure to bring my Shipping Forecast quilt with me. I had finished stitching the UK map so ordered some colourful felt to applique boats, fish and seagulls. It arrived just in time to pack in my sewing bag.
I found the perfect spot to sit and cut them out this week. I chose some lovely, vibrant colours to really stand out. So far I’ve only pinned them in place. I need to check where I’m going to place my Shipping Forecast areas before I start sewing.
It’s looking pretty good and I can’t wait to spend some more time stitching it. I couldn’t resist taking a photo of it as the sun was setting on our last evening in Teignmouth. Hopefully I will have it finished on our next trip to the seaside.

that quilt is gorgeous and what a wonderful place to get started on it 🙂 I hope you had a good break!
What a lovely place to visit and a gorgeous quilt, you’re very clever!
