Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while over the last few years. It is my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to write and look back over.
Five Happy Things {Week 482}
The first week back at work was really hard and long! I wasn’t ready to go back to work at all, especially as my children had the week off school. The days felt very long however we ordered our new bathroom furniture and tiles. This is our project for January and we have already started stripping the old tiles off the walls. The bathroom is the only room we haven’t decorated in our house and we’ve been here for 10 years!
I had three days in the office which meant I was able to finish reading Mermedusa on my commute. This was the last book in the Eerie on Sea series by Thomas Taylor. I started reading them with my son and now he’s grown up and doesn’t want to read with me anymore, I decided to read the last book myself. It was a fantastic story and really brought the whole series to a good end.
I made sure to spend time on the things I enjoy. My husband bought me some gorgeous new Tudor Belle Tana Lawn from Liberty for Christmas so I’ve been adding to my Liberty tumbling blocks. My daughter and I baked gingerbread biscuits and marble cake. It was lovely to have some freshly baked goods in the tin.
Yesterday we took the Christmas decorations down. I thought our tree looked really pretty this year with its red and white ornaments. I’m glad to have the house back to normal though and will look forward to unpacking everything in December.
We ended our week with a delicious meal out at Istanbul, our local Turkish restaurant. The kids are usually at Scouts on a Friday night so we took the opportunity to enjoy a meal out before the madness of a new term begins tomorrow.
Have a great week!
