Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write.
Summer Holidays edit {Week 358}
The kids spent a happy week at Iver Environment Centre. They’ve been a few times now and always have lots of fun. They spent the whole week outside, learning about plants and animals, building shelters, playing games, taking part in the Great British Mud Bake Off and pond dipping. It sounds exhausting but lots of fun!
My husband and I had a delicious lunch at the White Bear in Ruislip. We don’t usually eat out much but this is our favourite local place and dog-friendly too. I had a grilled haloumi burger which was amazing.
It was quiet at home without them but it gave me the chance to work on the Summer Craftpod box. I made a pretty bookmark in some gorgeous Liberty fabric in an hour. The second project was a pretty Wild Rose and Strawberry embroidery hoop which has been taking me a lot longer to complete. The weather has been so miserable that I’m actually in full on Autumn mode so I’m trying to finish the embroidery.
On Saturday we visited the Pop Up Farm to see their amazing sunflower patch. It’s only 30 minutes from London so was a great day trip. This year they’ve added some fun props in the sunflower fields which the kids really enjoyed discovering. We stopped for some BBQ sweetcorn and the kids had fun playing on the hay bales. We came home via Hobbycraft and I couldn’t resist picking up some Halloween decorations even though it’s only August!
Yesterday we went and bought new school shoes and got back to school haircuts. We still have 2 weeks of holidays but I like to get it over and done with and beat the queues. I booked a shoe fitting appointment at Clarks which meant there was no waiting around, so definitely book before you go if you can.

August 24, 2021 at 7:58 pmIt sounds like you have had a lovely summer holiday week. I have to admit I do love a haloumi burger so if I’m ever in the area I’ll have to pop into the White Bear.
