Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new.
Winter wreath banner
The cute little Winter wreath kit came with Issue 113 and I’m not sure why I didn’t make it. I love sewing with felt but this little kit got tucked away and forgotten about. With the Summer sunshine gone away for now it seemed like a good time to stitch it.
I found the template online, cut it out then cut out my felt. There were a lot of felt leaves and petals! Isn’t my Emma Bridgewater mug perfect for some sewing?
I find a little hand stitching project perfect for when I’m sitting round the table with the kids (which, let’s face it, is all day Monday to Friday at the moment!). I can do little bits in between the constant questions, getting drinks and snacks or printing something out for them.
I was pretty proud of my felt flowers and enjoyed piecing the banner together.
It came together quite quickly once all the pieces were cut out and I enjoyed making it. I tried a few new techniques, such as the felt flowers and chain stitch. It doesn’t look out of place at the moment but my fingers are crossed that it will warm up a little soon!
