I love having a few crafty activities to do with the children over half term. We try to vary the activities we have so no-one gets bored and have been spending a lot of time outdoors, as well as crafting, reading and playing games indoors. Both my children love collecting erasers so I was pleased to bring out the Pretty Pixels Eraser Maker Deluxe Pack, which lets you create your own erasers, to try out at home with them.

My children loved the look of this set as soon as they saw it and it’s not hard to see why. It’s a fun craft kit, for ages 8 and over, which lets you create erasers using a microwave. We couldn’t wait to get started. We opened the kit and carefully looked at the contents which included: 1 eraser maker, 7 eraser colours (pink, yellow, light blue, purple, rose pink, mint green, white), 40 clear spacer pixels, tweezers, 3 heart spacers, 16 design sheets, 2 blank design sheets, 1 storage tray and instruction booklet.
We set everything out in the storage tray and the children looked through the design templates and each chose one they wanted to make. Big Brother went first, carefully separating the pixels he needed according to the little key in the corner of the design template.
He assembled the design by placing the design sheet on the eraser maker and placing the pixels over the design. It took him a few attempts to get the pixels in the right place but he succeeded!
The instructions were easy to follow. When he had finished the design he placed the sizer and wedge onto the eraser maker and removed the design sheet. He added half a teaspoon of water over the surface of the eraser and closed the lid of the eraser maker.
We placed the eraser maker in the microwave for 1 minute and 50 seconds, then placed it in a tub of cold water for 10 minutes to let it cool down. My son was able to do this himself although younger children would need adult help. Then you can wipe away any excess water and remove your eraser, taking away any of the spacers.
We thought the Pretty Pixels Eraser Maker Deluxe Pack was really fun. Little Sis made a panda eraser exactly the same way, although I supervised her with the microwave. Both the children had fun creating their own erasers and I loved that it was an activity they could do independently or with little supervision. The designs are sweet and I like the fact that there were a couple of blank design sheets for your own creations.
