Unicorns and rainbows {Squidgydoodle subscription box}

Posted on June 15, 2018 by jenny

It’s been a while since we’ve tried any kids subscription boxes. My 6 year old loves unicorns and rainbows so I was pretty pleased to find a box all about, you’ve guessed it, unicorns and rainbows from Squidgydoodle. They make all sorts of subscription boxes for kids.

Unicorns and rainbows

I ordered one for my daughter and it arrived super quickly. I couldn’t wait to show it to her and see what was inside. We waited until after school when we had a free evening to open it up. I paid £12 for the Unicorns and rainbows box. It contained 4 colourful crafts – rainbow scrape painting, rainbow rain unicorn, unicorn crown and rainbow slime.

The first thing my daughter chose to make was the rainbow slime. My daughter loved watching what happened when she added the rainbow fizzers to the slime mix. Unfortunately it didn’t make slime for us but my daughter watched the colours changing for ages.

Next she made the rainbow scrape painting. I loved the rainbow template and was imagining all kinds of lovely sun catchers. My 6 year old had other ideas and regressed to being a messy toddler! It was a pretty fun activity. She squeezed out the three colours of paint over the rainbow then scraped them around. It didn’t make a rainbow but she loved the process.

As she was getting messy with the paints we carried on with the rainbow rain unicorn craft activity. This involved mixing paint and letting it drip down a picture of a unicorn. The colours weren’t very pretty to be honest as my daughter made brown! She did enjoy squirting the paint down the picture though. We left it to dry but it was hard to remove the unicorn sticker.

We’ve made everything except the unicorn crown so far. We have lots of craft products left over in our craft box so I think we’ll be making it this weekend.

I really enjoyed going through the Unicorns and Rainbows box with my daughter. I thought it was pretty good value and my daughter had loads of fun. It was really lovely to not have to worry about coming up with the craft ideas for once. I can definitely see me buying one of these again.
