Winter Mulled White Wine

The weather has been so atrocious today. It was cold and snowy. The children were so excited to see the snow but we soon realised it wasn’t really settling and they wouldn’t be building a snowman anytime soon. We adults needed a pick me up to lift our spirits so made some winter mulled white wine.

We love mulled red wine and admit to making quite a lot of it during December. I quite like mulled cider too but I’d never tried a mulled white wine before. January seemed a good time to try making some. White wine is lighter than red but still sounded just what was needed to get through the winter months.

There are lots of recipes out there but I liked the sound of the BBC Good Food one. I adapted it to suit our needs. We used:

1 bottle of white wine (we used a Pinot Grigio)

250ml bottle of light cider

75ml elderflower cordial

zest of 1 lemon (pared into strips using a vegetable peeler)

1 cinnamon stick

1 vanilla pod, split

2 tbsp caster sugar

Mulled White Wine

This was really delicious. A little bit fruity and a great alternative to traditional mulled red wine. I can’t wait to make it again soon, and experiment with other types of white wine and spices.
