Ah, that time of year when we have to give grateful thanks to teachers, Teaching Assistants, karate teachers, Beaver Scout leaders and every other adult who comes into contact with your child. I’m not a huge fan of donating money to every Christmas present fund doing the rounds at Christmas. In fact this year our emphasis is on giving handmade gifts.
I’m not sure how teachers feel about receiving gift vouchers or boxes of chocolate at this time of the year. My mum was a teacher and I remember her coming home with a stack of gift-wrapped soaps and chocolates every year. I don’t believe my children learn much from handing over a box of chocolates, and they learn even less when I’m the one donating money for a voucher. Which is why I’d much rather sit down with my children, and use our time to make something meaningful, and talk about why it is lovely to give at this time of year.
I’ve gathered 10 of my favourite craft tutorials for kid-made or parent-made gifts to give teachers this Christmas. Why not have a go at making something handmade this year?
