Halloween essentials for a kids party from poundworld

5 Halloween party essentials

Posted on October 17, 2017February 27, 2025 by jenny

At the grand old ages of 5 and 7 my kids absolutely love Halloween. When I was out shopping last week I popped into my local poundworld to pick up some Halloween decorations. We love to go all out for Halloween, decorating the house, dressing up, and even having a Halloween dinner on the day itself!

I love to shop around and found some brilliant decorations and Halloween supplies in poundworld. I’ve shared some of my favourite products over on Twitter already. They were good quality and excellent value so I just had to share our 5 Halloween party essentials.

Spooky home baked treats

In our household home baked treats are pretty important. I’ve shared some really fun Halloween bakes with you over the years and I think you all know how much I love a packet mix. Last week I whipped up the Cake Angels Creepy Cupcake Kit whilst the kids were at school. The spooky eye decorations are brilliant! I also bought a Betty Crocker Tempting Chocolate cake mix which I’m saving for Halloween.

I’ve seen so many fun cake for Halloween and I can’t wait to use the cake mix and chocolate icing to create one. I found Halloween drinks labels which I’ve never seen before. I’m going to add these over normal bottles of juice to give a really ghostly makeover to our Halloween tea.

Halloween tablescaping

I love tablescaping at special occasions. Last year I tried my hand at Christmas tablescaping and it’s so much fun to do. There was almost too much choice at poundworld but I stuffed my shopping basket full of tablecloths, paper plates, napkins – all matching and look fantastic for the kids. I added glitter pumpkins, a witches cauldron and scattered Halloween chocolate coins to finish off the look. I set everything up for the kids when they got home from school so I can honestly say they have road-tested everything and loved it!

Trick or Treats?

We live near our school so get visited by plenty of children on Halloween. I’m planning on using one of the huge Halloween plates to hold our sweet treats. There was a great selection at poundworld and the children really loved the chocolate coins, shrunken skull pops, voodoo beads and chocolate eye balls. We tested them to make sure they made the grade and they do 🙂

Dressing up

My kids already have costumes but I couldn’t resist adding some smaller accessories to my shopping basket. The children both got fun headbands and skeleton gloves – just in case it’s cold when we go Trick or Treating. I also picked up some Halloween photo booth props which I can never resist.

Decorations

We like to make it clear to our neighbours that we’re celebrating Halloween. No pumpkin on the doorstep for us! We love to add bunting and door decorations along with fake cobwebs and LED candles. I couldn’t resist the glitter Trick or Treat sign for the door.

pumpkin glasses for Halloween

I love our Halloween decorations. Some, like the pumpkin glasses, have been used daily. Other items I’m saving for Halloween. Don’t forget to pop along to your local poundworld and stock up for Halloween!

I’ve been eyeing up a few Halloween decorations in supermarkets and have an overwhelming urge to carve a pumpkin but I don’t actually like Halloween! That being said, I feel like I need a few of those glitter pumpkins scattered around my house and I’m not going to turn chocolate down. I think a trip to Poundworld is on the cards!

These are all such great decorations especially if your having people over to celebrate Halloween with. Also not too scary so perfect for little ones too
