As I sit and type this the shutters are closed, I’m wearing an extra jumper and I’m thinking about pumpkins. This evening the heating tried to come on so I don’t think I can pretend that summer is well and truly over.
I love Autumn and my youngest has given me quite a collection of acorns and conkers since we started walking to school. The leaves were falling as we played in the park today so it seemed only right to start planning a trip to a pumpkin patch.
For some reason I really want to visit a pumpkin patch. I think it’s important that our children see that certain foods grow, that we can buy them, prepare them and enjoy them at home. I’m so guilty of buying a lot of food which has been pre-prepared but a pumpkin patch sounds so much fun to visit and buy from.
In the last few years we’ve had great fun pumpkin carving at Hughenden Manor, our local National Trust place. This year I am more organised. Living on the outskirts of west London we’re surrounded by woods and green spaces. I’ve found 5 5 pumpkin patches near London for families, or which are the perfect day trip from London, for those seeking some pumpkins!
