July 22, 2017 at 9:49 amI find getting ready for bed at least an hour beforehand helps get you in the mindset, especially if you are normally a busy person. Having a wash, brushing my teeth, making sure the house in in order and then deliberately reading a book or watching a programme for an hour to enjoy the peace and quiet helps me unwind and nod off. And the bedroom must be cold, not only for the fresh air but it makes snuggling under the duvet much more attractive!

July 23, 2017 at 12:20 amThe latest scientific study about getting a good night’s sleep says the best thing is having a purpose in life to wake up for the following day. It’s true: when I’m following my favourite band on the road, I get fewer hours’ sleep than when I’m grinding away at the boring day job where I’m not respected, but I feel like I’ve slept better and am more able to face the day.

August 4, 2017 at 9:12 pmIn order to get a good night’s sleep, you need to switch off, so shut down your laptop/tablet and switch off the TV at least 30 minutes before bed. Have a nice warm bath and add a few drops of your favourite essential oil like lavender. Go up to bed and read a chapter or two of a good book and before you turn off the light, add a few more drops of essential oil to your pillow.
