April is going so quickly but the longer days and warmer weather means we spend a lot longer outdoors. This weekend we stayed local because we laid a new floor in my son’s bedroom. Thankfully the children were happy to play outside, especially when they received some special happy mail.
Outdoor play is really important for the whole family. Fresh air and exercise always equals a good nights sleep for everyone and my children know they have to play outside for at least 30 minutes if they want to earn their pocket money!
Our little garden is child-friendly. As well as our awesome playhouse we have a home-made mud-kitchen, sandpit, water table and now the kids have their gardening area too. There’s not much space left for us adults but there’s plenty of time for that.
Take a look at the video I made of the children opening their happy mail:
Unfortunately with outdoor play comes the inevitable – the falls and knocks. My children seem to be really prone to cuts and grazes and they both know where I keep the First Aid kit. It’s mainly full of plasters, the ones with the pictures on. Pictures seem to make all the difference!
My children love to point out the little scratches they get and often they are too small for a plaster. However my daughter had a run in with my sons’ radio controlled car which did need a plaster. Thankfully choosing which picture she wants always seems to take her mind off the cut. We love the Frozen and Star Wars themed ones from Elastoplast. They are a great heritage brand with over 200 products which the whole family can rely on.

My little boy is obsessed with playing outside he can do it for hours on end!!
Aww it sounds like you have a lovely garden for your kids to play in I used to love being outside when I was a child.
Me too, I was always picking the heads off my mum’s flowers to make ‘perfume’!
It’s so important for our littles to get outside and play in the fresh air every day! Your garden looks like a wonderful place with many activities. It is funny how those bandages with the pictures help the owies go away easier!
It sounds as though you have a really lovely outdoor area for your little ones to play in x
Thanks. Sometimes I wish it were a little more grown up!
it really does make a difference when the sun comes out. The game looks fab x
Fingers crossed for good weather over the long weekend.
