Gingerbread men sun catcher tutorial

We love sun catchers and have made quite a few this year. They are fun to make and easy to set up as they use everyday items from our crafty cupboard. We were recently reading The Gingerbread Boy which inspired our latest craft. Here’s our gingerbread boy sun catcher tutorial!

Equipment needed to make gingerbread men sun catcher:
black card
scissors
cellophane squares
contact paper
hole punch
ribbon

How to make gingerbread men sun catcher:

Draw around a gingerbread cookie cutter or draw a gingerbread man freestyle on a piece of black card. I made a gingerbread girl and boy for my children. Cut out the gingerbread person – you can always let your child decorate these whilst you set up.

I placed the gingerbread shapes on a tray with small pieces of cellophane. I chose mainly brown cellophane with a few squares of yellow but you can use any colours you like.

Remove the paper backing from the contact paper and place over your cut out gingerbread shape. Let your child cover the contact paper in pieces of cellophane – make sure there are no gaps.

Turn over your gingerbread person and cover the other side with a piece of contact paper. Trim around your gingerbread people, removing any excess black card or pieces of cellophane. Punch a small hole in the top of the gingerbread person and thread a piece of ribbon so you can hang them.
