{book review} Shouty Arthur by Angie Morgan

Meet Arthur and his sister Edith. They’re learning about wildlife from Edith’s book. Arthur really wants to go and find some.

There’s just one problem: Arthur is the LOUDEST, MOST SHOUTIEST boy alive.

Will he ever be quiet enough to see some wildlife?

Based on the nature walks author and illustrator Angie Morgan used to take with her own son Luke, Arthur’s struggle to keep still and be quiet – and his long suffering sister’s patient efforts to teach him to behave – will strike a chord with any parent who has had to say the words ‘be quiet’ more than once. In fact this book might well have been written about my noisy 4 year old or even both my children. They love to run around until they are exhausted, eat then sleep. The book has a great message that sometimes it is good to be quiet and I’m hoping my children will absorb this over time 🙂

We loved the story and the illustrations. There’s a little ladybird to look out for throughout the book and the story sparked lots of discussion about wildlife, what creatures live in our garden and the types of animals we can look out for.

Shouty Arthur by Angie Moran was published at the beginning of March by Egmont priced £6.99.

The description of this book made me laugh – for some children trying to keep quiet is soooo hard! I like the sound of this book helping children look for wildlife.
