March has been a pretty hard month for us as we’ve all been ill and I’m fed up of playing nurse! I don’t care that it’s snowing again as I’ve been thinking about fun Easter breaks with the family so we have something to look forward to. There’s so much choice and lots of places we want to visit. Whilst the children are young we’ll be staying in the UK. I know lots of people take their children abroad but I don’t think you can beat UK breaks at Butlins.
When I was growing up we always had a couple of weeks away somewhere near the sea. Despite growing up on the Isle of Wight surrounded by water we still wanted to holiday near a beach! I loved staying at holiday parks as there was so much to do. I remember swimming pools, adventure playgrounds, film nights, evening entertainment and always plenty of other children to make friends with.
For the last couple of years we’ve taken an amazing holiday cottage in Devon for a week. The front door opens out onto the beach and there’s even a bench to sit on and admire the view. We’re on a bit of a budget due to our house move this year but I really want to make some happy holiday memories for the children. The toddler will be starting nursery five days a week in September so it feels like this is the last year we can be spontaneous – even more reason to think up something special.
We’ve just had our house survey back which is making me think we’ll never afford a break away. Fortunately we have family we can visit for free. I hope we can afford a couple of days away somewhere. We promised the children we would take them to Peppa Pig World but I would love to go somewhere a little more grown up for my own sanity!
