Halloween Haunted House colouring activity for kids

Now the children and I have broken up for the half term holiday I feel that we can really start getting excited about Halloween. We’ve already been to a pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins, we’ve decorated them, and have made a fabulous display.

I have a few more Halloween crafts and activities to share which will help the kids to celebrate the spookiest of seasons. It’s one of our favourites times of year (after Christmas, of course!), and my kids have been super creative turning everything from oranges to cardboard tubes into pumpkins.

Our free printable is a fun activity to keep kids busy and a great Halloween STEM activity. Don’t forget to print out our free Halloween activity for kids here. Then all you will need is a set of colouring pens or pencils and of course some Blu Tack to display it when it’s completed.

This activity sheet is a simple Colour-by-Number. If you print it out you will see the page is covered in small boxes, each with a number. You colour each numbered square with the corresponding colour to reveal a picture.

So I set my daughter up with her favourite colouring pencils and helped her match the colours to the ones she needed to complete the Halloween picture.

She was very happy to sit and colour and loved seeing the spooky Halloween picture being revealed as she coloured. This activity kept her busy and she couldn’t wait to put it up when she had finished.

It’s a lovely activity for creative kids this Halloween. Who doesn’t love to sit and colour? Especially when it is so beneficial to children; aiding their fine motor development, benefiting good finger grip and improving their concentration. This kind of activity also helps teach children to recognise patterns and think creatively, helping them learn the idea that one thing can mean another, the basic building blocks of how to read code.

I loved colour by numbers when I was a kid, it was always exciting to see what the picture would be in the end. Mich x
