Monopoly Cheater’s Edition from Hasbro Gaming review

Monopoly Cheater's Edition from Hasbro Gaming review

Last week we were lucky to review the brand new Monopoly Fortnite edition. My 8 year old just loves Monopoly so he was very happy to receive the new Monopoly Cheater’s Edition from Hasbro Gaming too. This is an updated version of the original Monopoly game featuring a similar style of board, with paper money, game tokens, dice, Chance and Community Chest cards. Read on to see what we thought….

We are huge fans of Monopoly and love to see all the different versions of the game. Monopoly Cheater’s Edition is closely related to the original Monopoly with a similar board and properties. There are differences too though. For example the four stations are warp points instead of properties, and you move to the next station when you land on them. There’s also a free property, one that comes with a free hotel, and another at half the usual price – these are all fun to land on and grab before your opponents get there.

The game tokens have been updated, as have the Chance and Community Chest cards. These now help (or hinder) you as you try to achieve the main goal in playing – which is cheating your way around the board without getting caught!

My children loved this idea a little too much! They had so much fun playing that they basically cheated on every turn. We found this game a little shorter to play than normal Monopoly which suited us really well given their ages (7 and 8). There are some other differences with the original game too, such as whenever you take your turn you also control the Bank – this is great for helping yourself to some extra money.

Of course, if one of your opponents catches you cheating they can call you out for it. There are five cheat cards placed in the centre of the game board and if you are caught then you either have to pay a fine or the person accusing you has to pay a fine. My daughter was initially a little confused by this but soon got into the spirit.

The other major addition to the game is some handcuffs! These attach to the board whenever you land on the Go To Jail corner and must be worn until you pay your way out, you roll a double, use a Get Out Of Jail Free card or cheat! Oh yes, as well as stealing money from the Bank, taking property cards that belong to your opponents or move other people’s tokens, you can also try and sneak our of Jail!

We have had so much fun playing Hasbro Gaming’s Monopoly Cheater’s Edition. It’s a great twist on the original and we loved the additions to the game board. Without the houses and hotels it’s actually a much simpler game for children to play, and shorter too!

It costs around £14.99 from Amazon and all good toy shops and Monopoly Cheater’s Edition would make a fun family board game for all the family to enjoy.

ha this sounds really interesting – my family tend to make deals and such when playing, so this sounds good for them 🙂
