Monopoly Fortnite Edition

Monopoly Fortnite Edition

Posted on December 10, 2018February 28, 2019 by jenny

If you’re a parent of a tween like me, you must be aware of Fornite. The multi-player video game has taken over the world since its release last year and there’s no escaping it. It’s all I hear about from my son at home, and all I hear about at the school I work. Every child seems to know the Fortnite dances, regardless of whether they play Fortnite or not.

Monopoly Fortnite Edition from Hasbro

We were excited to be offered the new Monopoly Fortnite from Hasbro to review. We are huge fans of traditional Monopoly so were keen to see this new special edition version for Fortnite fans.

Monopoly Fortnite game

In this thrilling fortnite edition of the Monopoly game, players claim locations, battle opponents, and avoid the storm to survive. The gameplay, design, and components of the board game include elements inspired by the video game including Fortnite locations and loot chest cards.

Monopoly Fortnite game

Just like the Monopoly Gamer version which we reviewed last year, Monopoly Gamer doesn’t use Monopoly money, instead players earn health points (hp). First choose a character from 27 awesome outfits, then, it’s time to battle. The action die lets players pick up health packs, build walls, and damage their opponents. Every time a player passes go they unleash the storm; avoid it or lose hp. Like in the Fortnite video game, the last player standing wins.

Somehow the game cleverly combines elements of traditional Monopoly and Fortnite to create a fun family game. Perhaps unsurprisingly I didn’t survive very long when I played the game! I’ve never played the real Fortnite but my son and husband have and they liked playing Monopoly Fortnite. It’s obviously quite hard to make a mash up of a board game and online game but I think it succeed with the use of all the different characters and with the aim of who survives the longest, rather than who makes the most money.

I can see us playing this again and again over Christmas. We are a family who love to play board games and this has been a great hit with us.

Essential information:

What’s inside the box: 27 Fortnite outfits with pawn stands, Monopoly Fortnite game board, health point tokens, Storm, Loot Chest, Property and Wall cards; dice, action dice and Instructions.

Monopoly Fortnite is priced £21.99

Perfect for ages 13 and over

Can be played by 2-7 players

A game takes around 15-30 minutes

Sounds like you had a lot of fun! I used to play Monopoly a lot as a child but haven’t played in years. When my son is a little older I’ll be buying it again!

What a fun spin on the traditional Monopoly game, I am loving this set and I know my brother would too.
