Family Life mindfulness Monday Happy List

Monday mindfulness – Summer Holidays {Week 6}

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying the school summer holidays. Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Monday mindfulness – Summer holidays edition

We managed to pack in a lot to the last week of the Summer holidays. We started the week with a last minute camping trip to Devon. The weather wasn’t great all the time but we managed to spend a day at the beach. The kids loved exploring the campsite and it was fun to use all our camping equipment again. It’s all packed away now until next year but we’re already planning where to go next year.

At home the children were happy to get their hands on the new Lego Incredible Inventions album and cards in Sainsburys. They enjoyed collecting the cards last year and are hoping to complete their albums again. They were also happy to complete the Summer Reading Challenge and receive their medals and certificates. I can’t believe that’s over for another year.

We met up with some friends and finally managed to watch The Greatest Showman at the cinema. I felt like I was the last person to see it but I loved it and we’ve been singing the soundtrack all week. We found some brilliant The Greatest Showman activity sheets at Mrs Mactivity which the kids have been colouring in.

The children had added quite a few things to their Summer Bucket List and we just about managed to tick everything off. Over the last few days we took the children to Rush in High Wycombe and had dinner at Pizza Express. We made lots of slime and hid our stash of painted rocks. We reviewed some fun toys which included Lock Stars, a 3D Solar System Puzzle, Poopsie Slime Surprise and Ready 2 Robot toys.

We spent yesterday at ZSL London celebrating the new of a second series of Vampirina. Have you watched it on Disney Junior? It’s a super cute cartoon all about Vampirina “Vee” Hauntley who becomes the new kid on the block after she and her family move from Transylvania to Pennsylvania to open a local bed and breakfast called the Scare B&B for visiting ghouls and goblins. We had so much fun at the zoo, watching episodes from the new series (which air at the end of this month) and meeting some of the bats which ZSL look after.

What a week! Today I’m back to work and the children are going back tomorrow. Have a great week everyone!
