I can’t believe we’ve reached the letter Q in our weekly A-Z Play at Home blog hop already. It took me a while to think of a fun craft or activity around the letter Q and eventually I picked Q tips or cotton buds – the ones that are used for cleaning ears. It’s something every home has and I’m sure has lots of crafting possibilities.
For our Q tip blackberries craft we used:
Q tips
an elastic band
white card
black/purple/green paint
We recently picked a load of blackberries and made them into a delicious apple and blackberry pie. The kids loved foraging for blackberries and I enjoyed making the pie. It felt like the blackberries were out quite early and now they’re all gone – or everyone else has been picking them! I’m glad we got our first taste of blackberries, and I’m really hoping it won’t be the last.
Q tip blackberries craft for kids to make
I thought it would be fun to craft around the subject of blackberries so today we’re going to share our blackberry craft for kids. It uses Q tips (cotton buds) and is a great excuse to get the paint out.
The kids each chose 2 colours of paint which they thought blackberries were. Between them they picked green, red, purple and black. They picked up a bunch of Q tips and we tied them together with elastic bands so they were quite secure.
Then the kids were able to dip them into the paint and made blackberry shapes on the card which perfectly mimicked the drupelets of a blackberry.
They made lots of blackberries of all different colours before mixing up the paints.
It was quite a fun, messy craft and we were left with sheets of painted blackberries.

Great art idea, though!
