Autumn crafts handmade sewing tutorial

Felt autumn leaves

felt leaves

It definitely feels like Autumn don’t you think? Not just the wind and the rain but the nights drawing in. You can’t walk through the park for kicking the fallen leaves. I’ve been dying to take my son for a walk in the park and when we did we made sure we collected tons of pretty leaves, twigs and conkers to show daddy.

It made me wonder if it was possible to make something a bit longer lasting to brighten up the house and so we made autumnal felt leaves.

I just googled for some templates of suitable leaves, cut them out and traced them on to different sheets of coloured felt. I left some plain but on the others attempted to stitch the veins of the leaves which made them curl up at the edges.

They look lovely scattered along the mantelpiece (although it took me a while to de-clutter ours enough to do this!).

You could also thread some cotton (or invisible thread) through them and hang them as an autumnal garland or bunting.

Hi! I came over from Running With Glitter to tell you I looove your garland. I’m a huge garland-fan and this one is absolutely the cutest I have seen so far!
    Have a nice day!
