Wicked Christmas tree at St Pancras station

Five Happy Things {Week 525}

Posted on November 11, 2024 by jenny

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.

Five Happy Things {Week 525}

Yesterday my daughter took part in the annual Remembrance Day parade on the high street. She looked so smart in her uniform and I was the proudest parent watching her.

We had a busy weekend, taking the kids to see some of the Christmas lights in London, as well as the beautiful Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers exhibition at the National Gallery. Although we saw some Van Gogh on our recent trip to Paris, we knew this would also be a wonderful exhibition. We could only get evening tickets but it was a fun experience going to the gallery at night, and there’s a sweet Christmas market at the top of the steps at Trafalgar Square right outside.

Van Gogh starry night

London was so very busy but we saw Fortnum and Mason’s Piccadilly building decorated as a huge advent calendar, the decorated mini outside KOYN, as well as the fun Wicked tree at St Pancras Station. We walked a lot, the best way to see London and finally managed to pop into The Attendant, a converted underground Victorian bathroom, now a coffee shop.

We finished watching Agatha All Along on Disney+ which was really entertaining. At the moment we’re watching The Penguin which is so dark. I can’t believe the main character is played by Colin Farrell.

I got my hands on the new Janice Hallett book called The Examiner and I’m really enjoying it. I’ve read 28 books out of the 35 target I set myself at the beginning of the year. It feels like I’ve read a lot this year, and enjoyed every one of them, but I obviously don’t read as much as I used to.

Let me know what has made you happy this week.

    We loved Agatha All Along. It’s one of the best shows we’ve watched this year.

    I went to London to see the Christmas Lights but went to the wrong area! I walked around Carnaby Street but they weren’t all up yet. Glad you had better luck.

    Sounds like you have had a busy one. I love that your daughter took part in the Remembrance Day parade – such a lovely moment for you two to share. London is lovely when it has all the decks up – very pretty indeed xx

    Well done to your daughter for taking part in the Remembrance parade. St Pancras do always have great trees – we saw a huge Disney one, one year!

    I need to see that Wicked tree at St Pancreas as last year it was magical but I bet it’s even cooler this year. I need to plan my Christmas day in a few weeks to see some lights and festive displays x
