I have a growing collection of fab vintage games which I pick up whenever I see them. Whilst on holiday I had to limit myself to what we could fit in the car boot. I think I’m drawn to old toys as my grandparents had a selection, kept in a vintage enamel bread bin. Whenever we visited I would rush upstairs to get them as they were hidden in their wardrobe. It was full of wonderful toys: a chunky jigsaw, colouring pens stored in an old shortbread tin and metal toys from East Germany, some of which had belonged to my mum and aunt. They all got given away when my grandparents died so part of me feels like I’m trying to build my own little collection.
Who could resist a game with the name COPPIT, let alone with an original box such as this:
How about a quick game of Tiddlywinks, another Spear’s Games.
Do you remember BRIO mec wooden and plastic construction toys, perfect for little hands?
All found on holiday and hidden away from my husband so I could bring them back with us. Some will be put away until Edward is older, I’m not quite sure what to do with the others.
I’m not the only one with an eye for a treasure. See what others have found. Linking up with Flea Market Finds, Magpie Monday, Southern Hospitality, Thrift Share Monday, Nifty Thrifty Tuesday and Thriftaholic Finds.

July 31, 2011 at 5:16 pmI love thrift-storing & always see these vintage old games. The look so neat but I have no where to put them. I think the boxes would look so neat framed but don’t have the heart to cut up something so classic. Glad to see someone else loves them too!

August 1, 2011 at 7:27 pmI do not know Coppitt but love their pointy little hats.
I have a major collection of old games and no one ever wants to sit and play them with me. 🙁
Lately I’ve been bringing home vintage decks of cards and card games. (easier to hide, too.)
