2-Way Cards
The rules in this game are easy to pick up. One player takes the blue side and one the green. Starting with five card tiles, on your turn, place two cards from your hand anywhere into the grid, replenish your hand and trade your least useful tiles. On the reverse side of the tile, your opponent sees a different card in their colour. Be the first player to create and remove from the grid a sequence of three, four, five and six cards to win.
Score points according to the type of sequence. Sequences can consist of cards of the same or a different suit in an ascending or descending sequence, or cards of the same number, suit or picture, which can be formed forwards, backwards, up, down or diagonally. Whilst achieving all of these, remember to sabotage your opponent’s plan!
My 11 year old really enjoyed this game. The rules are easy to remember and she loved trying to make her own sequences whilst stopping me from using ‘her’ tiles. A game takes around 15 minutes, which makes this a fun, fast-paced game.
2-Way Words
The rules for 2-Way Words are similar to 2-Way Cards. One player takes the red side and one the blue. Starting with a hand of just five letter blocks, on your turn you push the letter of your choice anywhere into the grid. On the reverse side of the block, your opponent sees a different letter in their colour. Be the first player to create and remove a three, four, five and six-letter word from the grid to win.
Words can be formed forwards, backwards, up, down or diagonally. At the same time, try and work out what your opponent is doing and scupper their plans!
I love word games so enjoyed playing this game. The tiles can be a little difficult to place on the grid quickly but this is a fast-paced game, taking about 10-15 minutes to play. Sometimes my daughter can finds words a little tricky so I like that this is fun and educational too.
2-Way Cards and 2-Way Words are both priced £22.99 and available from happypuzzle.co.uk
