competition days out

1940s House at IWM London (and a vintage inspired giveaway!)

Giveaway now closed.

The winner, as chosen by the IWM, is Rebecca Murphy. The correct answer was King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.

One of my favourite museums in London is the Imperial War Museum and we’ll be popping along between Christmas and New Year for a last look round the 1940s house which is due to close on the 2nd January 2012.

The house, which is at the heart of the well-loved family exhibition The Children’s War, is all dressed up for a traditional Christmas in 1945 and this is the last chance to see it before the exhibition closes on 2 January 2012. Snow has fallen overnight on the house, and inside, preparations for Christmas are being made and the scene is warm and inviting. See the festive food waiting in the kitchen and look around the cosy sitting room that has been bedecked with original garlands and baubles.

Giveaway:

To celebrate this wonderful exhibition I have a mini vintage-inspired food hamper to giveaway to one reader of the gingerbread house.

The mini food hamper contains:
Ration Tea tin
Jar of vintage sweets
Plum jam
Walkers’ Toffee Duo
Grandma Wild’s Traditional Style Biscuits

To enter:

1) Simply leave me a comment below letting me know your favourite item in the mini hamper

2) Email competition@iwm.org.uk with your answer to the following question “For which couple did Winston Churchill buy for Christmas 1940, a one piece zip-up siren suit and a copy of Fowler’s Dictionary of Modern English Usage?”

Please note the winner will be chosen by the IWM.

UK only. Competition ends 2nd January 2012.
