My Pinterest feed is bulging at the seams with Christmas ideas and inspiration so I thought it would be fun to produce a round up of some fun gingerbread house ideas for kids. Forget baking a gingerbread house from scratch this Christmas! Here are 15 gingerbread house ideas for kids and none of them involve baking.
Cardboard seems to be a popular building material, this lifesize cardboard gingerbread house from inner child fun looks amazing, as does their smaller version. I also love the look of this fun cardboard gingerbread house and this cardboard gingerbread house from Happy Hooligans look great and are perfect for some seasonal crafting. Why stop at making just one gingerbread house? Home Grown Friends have made a whole gingerbread house village.
You could always try making an upcycled gingerbread house from a milk carton, a faux gingerbread houses from craft birdhouses or even styrofoam.
I also found a couple of gingerbread houses made from paper bags. These house-shaped favour bags would also make a great gingerbread house garland. Motherhood on a Dime also makes lovely gingerbread houses from paper bags.
I’m a huge fan of working with felt and one of my favourite projects is this felt busy bag gingerbread house, great for keeping my 2 year old occupied. Toddler Approved also made a sweet felt gingerbread house.
There are plenty of other craft materials to play around, from hama bead gingerbread house and people, to a painted pasta gingerbread birdhouse. Teach Preschool have even used puffy paint to make their gingerbread house ornaments.
