Christmas toy review

Matchbox 60th Anniversary vehicles

Since its launch, Matchbox vehicles and playsets have inspired and helped create countless, thrilling adventures for boys and girls all over the world.  From fire trucks to police cars in pursuit, Matchbox has provided kids with six-decades of imaginative play! To commemorate the brand’s 60 year anniversary, Matchbox has released a collectible die-cast line of 24 vehicles that harkens back to its roots. The assortment features some of the best-loved models, each of which comes with its own retro matchbox sized box which would make perfect Christmas gifts for any Matchbox fan or collector.

Matchbox 60th Anniversary Assortment

Some of the quintessentially British assortment favourites include:
64 Austin Mini Cooper:  Caused a revolution in the 60’s because of its front wheel drive layout, small size and fun to drive appeal.
Routemaster/Double Decker Bus:  Is the most recent version of the Iconic British people mover. The first London bus appeared in the early series in 1954.
Austin FX4 London Taxi:  Known for its unique classic British styling, the earliest version of the London cab appeared in 1960.
Vintage Tractor:  Farm tractors have been a main stay in the Matchbox line since 1954, starting with the Massy Harris model.

The Matchbox 60th Anniversary die-cast assortment is suitable for ages 3+, priced at around RRP £3.49 per vehicle and available from all good toyshops. They are the perfect size for little hands and my children have been having a great time with them. They were sent the Ground Grinder and Urban Tow Truck and they’ve been enjoying learning about them. I’m not sure the cardboard boxes will last for long but I quite like the idea of buying a couple of the classic vehicles and putting them away for them. I think they represent great value for money and would also make a great stocking filler for any boy or girl!
