How to make a melted hama bead bowl

I’ve been having lots of fun crafting with hama beads, it’s the perfect craft to pick up in the quieter moments. My hama bead love Pinterest board is bursting with inspiration and I’ve been trying to make things a little out of the ordinary.

I love the idea of hama bead bunting, a letter garland, ear-rings, necklaces, coasters and hair clips. You can make pretty much anything from hama beads. I’ve already written about some of the things I’ve made over on Pinaddicts, as well as some of the mistakes I’ve made! How to make a melted hama bead bowl

Anyway, I enjoy crafting with hama beads. I’ve melted beads to make a bracelet. I’ve also made a patriotic hama bead bowl. I thought it would be fun to make something to hold the loose change, crayons, Waitrose tokens and hair clips that are always lying around our home.

The bowl was simple to make. First, pre-heat your oven to 200°. Find an oven proof bowl and lightly grease the inside – I used butter but you could use oil too. I then scattered the beads inside the bowl trying to make sure there was an even layer. The butter actually helped this process as it made the beads sticky so easy to more around and fill any gaps.

I placed the bowl in the oven for about 10 minutes, checking every 2 minutes to make sure the beads were melting sufficiently to fuse together. I then removed the bowl and left it to cool down for an hour before gently prodding the beads; fortunately the bowl came away from the sides of the bowl.
