days out holidays Wiltshire

Family fun at Lacock Abbey

I’m very proud to say that today is Day 2 of our holiday and we’ve used our National Trust membership on two consecutive days! We’ve been members for years but have found the children never really enjoyed our trips – until now! Yesterday we had a lovely walk around Avebury stone circle and today we were at Lacock Abbey.

It’s been a while since I last visited and is now laid out through the memories of the last resident, Matilda Talbot. The children enjoyed following the children’s trail, watching the Zoetrope go round and spotting the cats hiding around the rooms.

One of my favourite things about holidays is family time and photographs with me in them! I have very few pictures of me with the children so the ones taken over the last few days are very precious.

My husband takes amazing photos, which really capture the children’s personalities. My toddler enjoyed romping around, being his normal cheeky self and spending time with his daddy.

Little Sis enjoyed it too, barely sitting in her pram for a second. She’s a jigsaw fiend so loved this room, we had to literally drag her out.

There was loads to do inside the Abbey and the garden was equally absorbing. We loved the willow tunnel, spotting baby frogs and the interactive installations were great fun. The toddler loved the light umbrella which scattered rainbows and shadows as you turned it to catch the light. Fortunately there was plenty of sunshine which kept him really happy!

What a lovely family day out, with so many gorgeous NT properties you are spoilt for choice. They are also very good at providing activities to keep the children (and adults) entertained. Like you I always seem to be the one to be taking the photos, so it’s nice to be in one or two now and again. Thanks for sharing your outdoor fun with Country Kids.
