days out London Olympics

Are we crazy to take our children to the Olympics?

We booked our Olympic tickets when I was pregnant knowing we would be taking a toddler and a baby to the Olympics. We heard lots of conflicting reports that babies wouldn’t be allowed, prams would be prohibited, and as we didn’t want to carry the baby in a sling we’ve now arranged for her to be looked after by nanny.

Over the last few days we found out you can take a pram and there will be a pram park, and we can also take some food for the toddler. I hope there are baby changing facilities too. I really can’t wait to hear about other people’s experiences so we know what to expect.

Olympic ticketsAlong with our tickets we received a free Games Travelcard with each of our tickets, valid for the day of our event, and a list of “critical information”. It reminded us to be prepared for security checks (which they’ve compared to an international flight); bring as little as possible; read the lists of prohibited and restricted items; leave plenty of time to travel and remember the only way to pay is Visa or cash.

London 2012 activity books

To get the toddler in the mood for our crazy day at the Olympics we were sent two new London 2012 activity books – The London 2012 Games Activity Book and Team GB and ParalympicsGB. Both books are full of information and things to do such as quizzes, puzzles and games. Each book is divided into sections and the toddler loves the sticker section and the posters are already up in his bedroom. Published in paperback (spiral bound with tabs) by Carlton, each book costs £6.99.

We might be crazy to take a toddler to the Olympics but at least we will have a day to remember!

Oh God dead jealous, even though I intentionally did not apply for tickets as I thought it would be murder travelling there (which has turned out not to be the case by all reports).
    When do you go?
    Which event?
    Have a super time.
