Gingerbread house finds

Posted on October 30, 2011August 30, 2014 by jenny

Is it too early for a glimpse of the big red guy?

On my latest thrifting trip I spotted a small paper bag hiding on the haberdashery shelf. It was printed with Your Woman and Home FATHER CHRISTMAS. I can’t resist vintage Christmas decorations so took a closer look.

It contained a single piece of fabric, pre-printed with a pattern for a Father Christmas decoration.

I think it must have been a free gift with the Christmas issue of Your Woman and Home. I haven’t been able to find out any information about the magazine – perhaps it was related to todays Woman and Home magazine?

The pattern is in great condition and has never been cut. I can never use the free gifts which come with magazines either. I have all the issues of Mollie Makes and the free gifts have not even been looked at! I wonder if they’ll end up in a charity shop in a couple of years?!

Cool find, I’d sell the Mollie Makes on Ebay if I were you – they seem to sell really well.

What a gorgeous Santa. Please tell me you’re going to make him?

    What a fab find.

My subscription to ‘Molly Makes’ is on Zinio (‘the electronic newstand’) so that I have fewer paper magazines piling up in the house. This means I don’t get the free gifts, but this isn’t really a problem as I probably wouldn’t get round to using them anyway.

    Dear Jenny
Have you made the Woman and Home Santa yet. Is it for sale either made or as a pattern. Or can I get a colour photo copy of the pattern. Please let me know if so.
The reason. I am 52, I lost my mum when I was 10, and now seeing your post know she must have made this Santa from this same pattern. It was my favourite christmas decoration as a child and in moving around got lost. I have been searching the internet on and off for years looking for it, not knowing what to search for and thanks to you now know. If it’s sold it’s sold, if you love it and do not wish to part with it I quite understand. But thanks for the lovely memory jog.I’m one step closer to finding one. (30/08/2014)

Glad to hear 🙂 It took me a while to find my one but I’ll be adding it to my Etsy shop soon.
