Edward and I went for our usual shopping trip last week, visiting the charity shops of Crouch End. It was a strange trip as I got accosted by two Eastern European women in one shop who pointed at my expanding belly and told me I was having a boy. We decided not to find out the sex of our Second Baby but I seem to be attracting lots of unwanted attention on the pregnancy front. I can’t hide my bump but I just seem to attract people who want to talk to me about it. I’m so fed up of being pregnant – roll on the next 5 weeks!
Anyway, Edward did rather well from our shopping trip for a change. He’s completely in love with In The Night Garden on CBeebies and was over the moon when I saw a plush Macca Pacca figure in one shop. We also found an inflatable skittles set, also from In The Night Garden, which he’s been playing with ever since. His final toy was a plush Waybuloo figure – Waybuloo is his third favourite programme after Chuggington and In The Night Garden!
As soon as my husband saw the bags he accused me of spoiling Edward but I don’t think so as I only paid £1.75 for the three items. What do you think? Can you spoil a child by buying a couple of second hand toys once in a while?
I treated myself to this rather fab vintage wooden spool, stamped Wilson Bros. Ltd Liverpool. I’m currently using it to hold lovely red and white baker’s twine, which I’ve been using to tie my Christmas presents with.

I am always accused of spoiling my children too, yet I am the same I either buy the odd little thing from a charity shop or of course I get sent things to review – it drives me mad!!
Good luck with the last few weeks of your pregnancy, I found it much harder the second time around but I guess that’s having to deal with a toddler too. Baby will be here before you know it x
Urgh! That was the only thing I disliked about being pregnant – you seem to become public property!

Love the spool! I get the same from Mr G, he always complains that I am spoiling Boo..and I suppose I am in Boo’s eyes, but when I get home having spent £2/£3 with a big bag of toys for both boys..I can’t resist.. 🙂
Thats amazing. I wish our charity shops were that good. Definately not spoiling. £25 every time you went out or even £5 but all that for £1.75 I love going round the shops with Leo though less so with Sean who is at the pull everything in sight stage!
You’re not spoiling him, or if you are I do it too. My little guy’s favorite thing is to go to rummage sales with me. I give him 2 dollars to spend and he’s actually quite picky about how he spends his money at 3 1/2 years old. He also knows that he doesn’t get something every time we go out which is an important line to draw, at least for us 🙂
I adore charity shops – I think people have embraced them since the recession, and living in a relatively well off area, I find amazing dresses & coats with the tags still on for £3 or £4.
